Ryan Reynolds is slated to swing back into action with Free Guy on December 11th. The film set within a video game, directed by Shawn Levy, was previously scheduled as a summer 2020 blockbuster by Fox. However, once coronavirus started to become an ongoing problem, Free Guy was pushed from June to the current December date. Even if films previously mentioned do wind up being delayed, it's possible theaters could be open by December and allow Free Guy to avoid another delay.

West Side Story - 12/18

Steven Spielberg's remake of West Side Story is still scheduled to be released on December 18th. Disney announced this release date in 2019, and they have yet to move Spielberg's musical off this spot. The film stars Ansel Elgort and Rachel Zegler in the romantic story. The history of the musical and Spielberg's involvement gives West Side Story plenty of potential to be a box office hit whenever it arrives, even if it does wind up missing this December date.

Coming 2 America - 12/18

Eddie Murphy's Coming 2 America is currently slated to be in theaters on December 18th. Paramount originally dated the long-awaited sequel for August 2020 but delayed it to the Christmas season last year. There hasn't been any talk of postponing the film as a result of coronavirus yet, and any such decisions might not need to be made for a few more months. No marketing materials for Coming 2 America have been released yet, and they might continue to be missing until Paramount is confident of its release date.

Dune - 12/18

Denis Villeneuve's Dune is scheduled to be released in theaters on December 18th as well. Villeneuve's adaptation of Frank Herbert's sci-fi novel stars Timothée Chalamet, Oscar Isaac, Rebecca Ferguson, Jason Momoa, Josh Brolin, Zendaya, and many others. First look images from the movie have already been released, and Ferguson confirmed reshoots would happen soon, which is potentially a good sign of Dune staying on track. As long as theaters are open by December, Dune could still keep this release date.
