Kaley Cuoco is set to lead a Doris Day limited series for Warner Bros. Television in the titular role. The Big Bang Theory breakout has recently found herself the toast of tinseltown for her work in front of and behind the camera. It's in big part due to the success of her company, Yes, Norman Productions, which she formed in 2017, and their exclusive overall deal with WBTV. The first live-action product of their partnership was the well-received HBO Max series, The Flight Attendant, which Cuoco led.
According to Variety, fans can expect a future series from the team to be based on the life of Hollywood icon, Doris Day. Cuoco's Yes, Norman is developing the show with Berlanti Productions and WBTV, sourcing the 1976 biography, Doris Day: Her Own Story, by A.E. Hotchner. They optioned the rights to the book, which is more like an autobiography, considering it's based on interviews with Day, herself. The series has not yet found a network home.
Cuoco will tackle the role of Day with the support of many people who knew the late legend. Bob Bashara, trustee of Day's estate, will serve as an executive producer, while Jim Pierson, a friend of Day, and Tim Hotchner, the biographer’s son, are signed on as consulting producers. Cuoco bears striking similarities to Day, including being a beloved performer and animal rights activist. In fact, Yes, Norman productions is named after her dog.

Day passed away at the age of 97 in May of 2019. She ruled the 1950s and 60s box office, drawing in the crowds with films like Pillow Talk, Calamity Jane, and Lover Come Back. Her legacy lives on not only through film, but with the Doris Day Animal Foundation. Cuoco uses her platform in a similar way, constantly promoting the importance of rescuing animals. In addition to the Doris Day limited series, Cuoco is also working on season two of The Flight Attendant.
