Coronation Street’s Jack P. Shepherd says a major character will die at New Year
CORONATION Street’s Jack P. Shepherd has revealed a major character could be killed off during the New Year special in a shocking plot twist.
The 30-year-old, who plays David Platt in the ITV soap, ruled himself out of the storyline after signing a bumper pay deal which will see him stay on the cobbles until the end of 2019.
In a massive spoiler, David told The Daily Star On Sunday, one of the shows character’s was for the chop.
Jack explained: “This year I think someone dies at New Year.
“It might be someone to do with the Platt’s! And no, it’s not David’s dog.”
Over the past six months, Jack has tackled his most serious storyline to date and has been praised for his handling of David’s rape.
Last week he was handed the Best Actor gong at the Inside Soap Awards for his work on the story.
He joined the soap as David back in 1999 and is a firm fan favourite.
Jack previously hinted at his own departure and said he was concerned about where the soap’s bosses would take David next.
He explained: “Ultimately in soaps I think if it does change the character then you must see what you want from the character.
“Do you want David Platt to change and, if so why? If he does change, does he eventually have to leave?”
David went on to sign a new contract worth £250,000.
A source said of the deal: Jack is going nowhere for the next year and the executives are very happy.
“His new deal is richly deserved...
“The bosses are aware that stars are keen to maximise their earnings and his new deal reflects their desire to keep top talent in the show.”
