Jason Blum updates fans on when the first trailer for Halloween Ends might be coming. Blumhouse and director David Gordon Green brought Halloween back to screens in rousing fashion in 2018. 2021 then saw the arrival of the Michael Myers-haunted sequel Halloween Kills.

But of course the new Halloween couldn’t go away without delivering a full-on trilogy. So later this year fans will get Green’s Halloween Ends, once again starring Jamie Lee Curtis as Laurie Strode. Details on the trilogy-capper are being kept under wraps, but Universal did give CinemaCon attendees a little taste of footage earlier in 2022. Not surprisingly at all, the footage teased a final showdown between Laurie Strode and menacing killer Michael Myers.

It’s one thing though to reveal footage to convention attendees, and quite another to let the entire world get a taste of what a new movie has in store. Unfortunately thus far there has been no trailer for Halloween Ends, even though the movie is just a few months from release. But Halloween reboot producer Blum has given fans reason for cautious optimism, indicating during an exchange on Twitter that a Halloween Ends trailer is coming sooner rather than later. Apparently upset at fans pressing him for news on various projects, Blum tweeted in part “I hear you all on Halloween trailer.” He then said the trailer is “top of mind” and said Blumhouse is “working” on getting it done. Blum then tweeted “that is correct” at a fan who asked if the trailer was “dangerously close.” See the entire semi-illuminating exchange in the space below:

This exchange obviously represents only the vaguest of updates as to how far along the process of getting the Halloween Ends trailer up and ready for viewing might be. “Dangerously close” clearly is not the most precise characterization and leaves a lot of wiggle-room. But certainly a trailer must be getting close as the movie releases in October.

Of course no one on the outside knows what actually goes down in Halloween Ends. Fan theories however speculate that the movie will pull a twist and reveal Laurie Strode as the real villain. One theory even suggests Laurie could be killed by her own granddaughter Allyson. Curtis herself fueled some of this theorizing when she said the third Halloween will “anger fans.” More fuel was added to the fire when Michael Myers actor Nick Castle said at a convention that the film has a surprise ending. Director Green for his part said the new film is influenced by John Carpenter’s Christine, leading to speculation that the movie could lean into the supernatural more than the prior two films in the trilogy. Whatever is set to happen in Halloween Ends, fans are clearly eager to get a trailer (and Blum is maybe sick of hearing from them). It seems the wait for that trailer might be close to over (even dangerously so).
