Netflix's chilling new supernatural series Chambers ends with a clear set-up for season 2, but when can fans expect to see more of Sasha (Sivan Alyra Rose) and the LeFevre family? Here's what we know so far about the show's renewal, the potential release date for Chambers season 2, and how the story could continue.

Created by Leah Rachel, Chambers begins with Sasha having a sudden heart attack at 17, on the same night that wealthy and popular teen Becky LeFevre (Lilliya Scarlett Reid) dies after being electrocuted in a bathtub. Sasha is saved by a heart transplant from Becky, and after he recovery is approached by Becky's parents - Nancy (Uma Thurman) and Ben (Tony Goldwyn), who want to know more about the girl who got her daughter's heart. As Sasha becomes more involved with the LeFevres, she is haunted by frightening visions and supernatural events, leading her to wonder if some part of Becky has survived.

Though season 1 resolves the main mystery of Becky's death and the strange things happening to Sasha, it opens up a whole world of possibilities for Chambers season 2. Here's what we know so far.

CHAMBERS HASN'T BEEN RENEWED FOR SEASON 2 YET

Netflix hasn't yet announced that Chambers will be getting a second season, but that's unsurprising given that the first season has only just been released. The streaming service typically announces season renewals one to two months after the previous season has released, so look out for news of Chambers season 2 in the coming weeks. Netflix keeps viewing figures close to its chest, so we don't know how popular Chambers is, but it's rare for a Netflix show to be canceled after just one season.

WHEN WILL CHAMBERS SEASON 2 BE RELEASED?

Though Chambers hasn't yet been renewed, we could expect to see season 2 released as early as April or May 2020. Chambers season 1 began filming in June 2018 and was released at the end of April 2019, so if Netflix quickly green lights a second season then it could begin filming within the next couple of months for a similar release date next year. Of course, while traditional TV networks tend to release new seasons a year apart, fans often have to wait longer for new seasons of Netflix shows; Stranger Things season 3 will release more than a year and a half after season 2, and there was a wait of more than two years for the second season of The OA.

WHAT WILL CHAMBERS SEASON 2'S STORY BE?

Warning: MAJOR SPOILERS ahead for Chambers season 1

Chambers sets up season 2 in a number of ways. For starters, Sasha's Uncle Frank has been falsely accused of murder (most likely arranged by The Annex in order to isolate Sasha), so unless his name can be cleared he's heading for a lengthy stay in prison. However, getting what she wants may not be difficult for Sasha any more, as the season finale saw her unleashing the full potential of her new powers to neutralize members of The Annex who had come to praise the spirit inside her.

That spirit is Lilith, who - as an in-universe TV show helpfully explains - was the first wife of Adam, but refused to be subservient to him and instead wandered out into the wilderness. In Jewish mythology Lilith is often depicted as a demonic figure (in The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, for example, she's the mother of demons), and she certainly seems to have exerted an evil influence over Becky. However, The Annex believes that she is a benevolent force and that Sasha, as her host, is now the divine feminine.

With Becky's spirit now gone, Sasha will be left alone to defend her soul against Lilith in Chambers season 2 - and she'll have to decide whether to use her new powers, or find a way to rid herself of them.
