Rian Johnson’s next project is the mystery series Poker Face, and here’s everything you need to know about it. Rian Johnson’s career in the entertainment industry began in the 1990s with various short-films, and his big-screen debut arrived in 2005 with the neo-noir crime thriller Brick, written by him and starring Joseph Gordon-Levitt. His next project was the comedy-drama The Brothers Bloom, starring Rachel Weisz, Adrien Brody, and Mark Ruffalo.
Johnson also took part in different TV projects following The Brothers Bloom, directing episodes of Terriers and Breaking Bad, among those “Ozymandias”. His next big project on the big screen was Looper, a sci-fi thriller starring Bruce Willis and Joseph-Gordon Levitt as the same character, in a story that involves contract killers and time-travel. Looper was a hit with critics and viewers, opening many doors for Johnson in the film industry and leading up to his biggest work to date: Star Wars: The Last Jedi. The second installment in the Star Wars sequel trilogy turned out to be quite divisive, but fans and critics have since changed their mind about the movie, even calling it the best in the trilogy. Johnson’s most recent project was the mystery movie Knives Out, which earned him nominations for various awards mostly for the story, which was written by him.
Before the untitled Knives Out sequel arrives, Rian Johnson will return to the realm of television (though through the world of streaming) with a new project titled Poker Face, a TV series announced to be in development in March 2021 – and here’s everything you need to know about it.

As mentioned above, Poker Face was announced in March 2021 and is still in the early stages of production, with Johnson and company getting together the crew they need along with the cast. With that in mind, and if the coronavirus pandemic doesn’t represent an obstacle to the project, Poker Face could see the light in early or mid-2022. What’s known about it, however, is that it will be 10 episodes long and will be available to stream exclusively on Peacock, NBCUniversal’s very own streaming service which launched in April 2020.

Luckily, Poker Face already has its lead actress on board, and it’s none other than Natasha Lyonne. Lyonne is best known for her roles in movies like the American Pie series, Blade: Trinity, and The United States vs. Billie Holiday, but her biggest and most acclaimed project to date is the TV series Russian Doll, which she also produced and co-created. In addition to starring in Poker Face, she will also serve as executive producer.
