Kevin Feige's Star Wars Movie (Release Date TBC)

Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige is also producing a Star Wars movie that will release some time after Obi-Wan Kenobi. He recruited Loki and Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness writer Michael Waldron to work on the script. It has been nearly three years since the film was announced, but that is the only real development to come since 2019. Feige has teased interest in wanting to use a major Marvel Cinematic Universe actor in his film, while rumors of Eternals' Chloé Zhao directing were debunked. Those looking forward to seeing what Kevin Feige does with Star Wars may need to pump the brakes a bit, as Kathleen Kennedy teased in 2022 that it is still in the very early stages of development.

J.D. Dillard's Star Wars Movie (Release Date TBC)

It was also previously revealed that J.D. Dillard is developing a Star Wars movie. The announcement came in 2020, the year after his monster-thriller Sweetheart was released. Early details on the project said Dillard is co-writing the movie with Matt Owens (Luke Cage). There has been a lack of news on its progress since then, partially due to Dillard's focus on his Korean War pilot film Devotion, starring Glen Powell and Jonathan Majors. With Devotion releasing in 2022, he might now be able to shift his attention back towards the galaxy far, far away. For now, J.D. Dillard's Star Wars movie does not have a release date.

Is Rian Johnson's Star Wars Trilogy Still Happening?

One of the biggest questions lingering over the future of Star Wars movies releasing after Obi-Wan Kenobi is the status of Rian Johnson's trilogy. Lucasfilm handed the director of Star Wars: The Last Jedi a new trilogy of movies in 2017, a few months before the second installment of the sequel trilogy debuted. It is no secret that Star Wars: The Last Jedi was a divisive film for the franchise, which left Rian Johnson's future with Star Wars in question. Despite plenty of rumors and speculation that he is no longer making the trilogy, the official word is that they are still on; they just are not the priority for either party. The Last Jedi director is enjoying the creative freedom with his new Knives Out franchise, while Lucasfilm is still charting its path after the Star Wars sequel trilogy. Kathleen Kennedy says that Rian Johnson's trilogy will happen when their schedules align and that he still consults on various Star Wars projects thanks to the great relationship he forged with Lucasfilm's brass.
