4. POSSIBILITY: BOBA FETT (STAR WARS)

Boba Fett may finally be getting some more screen time to add to his sparse appearances in the franchise thus far.

Boba Fett is expected to be in the Star Wars Story lineup in the next few years. It may be the most long-awaited and anticipated installment of the standalone movie series, as the infamous bounty hunter has long been considered a greatly underused character in the Star Wars franchise.

The movie has yet to be announced, but rumors state that it is in the process of development.

This one is probably still a few years down the line, though, as reports state that it is not likely to start filming until 2020.

3. IN DEVELOPMENT: MEN IN BLACK SPINOFF

The world of Men in Black is gearing up for a new chapter to add to the long-standing pop culture phenomenon.

This new Men in Black movie has already begun production with Chris Hemsworth taking on the lead role. The spinoff puts Hemsworth together with Thor: Ragnarok costar Tessa Thompson as the two play lead agents in MIB's London branch.

The movie has a similarly impressive supporting cast, including Liam Neeson and Kumail Nanjiani. Neeson will be the director of the London agency, and Nanjiani plays the alien sidekick of Hemsworth and Thompson.

The currently untitled movie is expected in June 2019.

2. POSSIBILITY: FURIOSA (MAD MAX)

In George Miller's reboot of Mad Max, many fans believed the real star was Charlize Theron's Furiosa.

There has been talk about a spinoff movie for Furiosa ever since her introduction in Mad Max: Fury Road, but concrete plans have not yet materialized.

If the plans ever did come together, Charlize Theron has expressed great interest in returning to the role.

She remarked, "I love that character. I loved working with George Miller and if he was ever on board, yeah. I mean, I would be in right from the beginning... I wouldn’t even need to see a script, I trust him that much and it’s great when you have that with a filmmaker."

1. IN DEVELOPMENT: LORD OF THE RINGS PREQUEL

In perhaps the most anticipated and long-awaited spinoff of them all, Amazon will soon premiere a new Lord of the Rings prequel TV series.

Amazon acquired the rights to J.R.R. Tolkien's masterpieces for $250 million, a record-breaking amount that already makes it the most expensive television series of all time.

The plot is based on Tolkien's notes and appendices to his novels. Reports claim that the series will focus on a new character each season, and the first season will focus on a young Aragorn.

Amazon has already committed the five season of the series starting within the next two years, and they may have even more plans for future spinoffs after this one.
