I think you missed difference between "invite application" and "inter view"
only few offered interview to join

for example MAM said in application page "Here are the rules and process for our invite interview"
I mean you only allowed or eligible to join it after passing interview not before

In application scenario you need to apply first then you got an approval based on your proofs, giving right answers etc...
so I need to say it`s an interview not application plus there was an essential difference between two processes.
