Madras High Court has directed 37 internet service providers to ban around 2650 piracy websites from uploading Thalapathy Vijay’s big Diwali release ‘Mersal’. Ever since internet becomes accessible to the general public, online piracy turned out to be a huge threat to Tamil film industry.

Earlier, Mani Ratnam’s Madras Talkies approached High Court to direct internet service providers to ban piracy websites from publishing illegal prints of their film O Kadhal Kanmani and now, Sri Thenandal Films too followed a similar strategy to save their high budget film ‘Mersal’ from piracy issues.

Henceforth, all leading productions houses are expected to take legal steps to prevent online piracy.
