Welcome new members and a few reminders
Hello Clubbers!

The staff of DigitalCoreClub welcomes our newest members! Please come by the forums and say 'hi' when you get a chance...

Just a couple of items that we wanted to mention to our new users and remind our existing users:

Please review the rules, FAQ and pinned forum posts. Detailed answers to almost all of your questions can be found in these resources. If you still have a question, please send a Staff PM or visit us on IRC.

All members 'Sentinel' level and above can upload to DCC through the staff review system. The reason for this policy is to give our newest members the opportunity to familiarize themselves with DCC and especially to read the uploading rules. We like to think we have created a reasonable balance between upload quality and uploading effort, so please take a moment to review the uploading tutorial at https://digitalcore.club/forum/17/to...-for-beginners

While we're on the topic of uploading, many new members try to upload requests to help build upload stats and get the point rewards for these uploads but please remember that request uploads are still subject to the same rules as all other uploads. And, most importantly, read the request (including any comments) carefully - people making requests are generally looking for something that isn't easy to find and it's the responsibility of the uploader to make sure it satisfies the request. We have to reverse around 10% of requests and all of these could have been avoided by carefully reading the request.

Torrent comments are reserved for sharing your reflections on the content of that torrent and not for technical issues or requests. Any concern or issue related to downloading, unpacking (if compressed) or using the download (video playback, game installation, etc.) should be communicated to the staff via the Report button on the torrent page. There are only a couple of people that review the comments on a daily basis and a Report or Staff PM will get our attention much faster than commenting.

The reason why this is important, and the reason why we have a reminder just above the comment field, is that the vast majority of issue comments are simply incorrect - out-of-date media players, not rechecking large torrents and a myriad of other issues that can't be reproduced by the staff. And this is the main point - if you send a report about a technical concern we will generally lock the torrent, review the contents and then take appropriate action much faster than stumbling across a random torrent comment.

And all of this will happen much faster if you use the Report button!

Downloading speed - this is a complex topic, but new members should remember that DCC (and indeed any private tracker) is going to have a mix of new, recently-uploaded torrents and older torrents that are going to vary in terms of how many users are seeding and how seeders are serving any given torrent.

The rules of thumb are newer torrents are often, but not always, hosted on a seedbox which can be uploaded at very high speeds and older torrents which are generally hosted on residential systems that typically have much less bandwidth to work with. Yes, it can be frustrating to have to wait for that 4K version of "Howard The Duck" to finish downloading but this isn't Netflix - you are sharing with thousands of other users just like yourself and speeds are going to vary from user to user and torrent to torrent.

So please don't leave torrent comments about downloading speed, try the Request seed button...and just be patient.

As always, thanks for reading and please join us on IRC if you want to chat with the staff or have a question.
