I am writing this with certainty. Literally after years of work on the code and months of solving other behind-the-scenes issues and preparations, we are now able to push for the long planned change and bring this place to another level, in a secure, private and safe manner. A lot of things are ahead this fall and these will come in phases. Each Phase will be featured through its own news item with its details separately discussed.


Phase 1: We are going to introduce a new way we will run the place, including a new way to handle finances. Something so far unheard of in the BitTorrent world and in fact quite anti-pirate. This will be the foundation of our security and stability for the future. You will be positively surprised.

Phase 2: Along with moved domains, we are finally going to re-launch everything on our own privately owned hardware, running BSD Unix and configured in an ultra paranoid fashion, effectively becoming a pinnacle of what privacy and true security stand for. We've already been running a very advanced underlying system configuration since January, but this will take us even further. There might be a short photoblog of the whole switch if I am feeling secure about it. I may also answer some more advanced questions about system config if you will be interested.

Phase 3: We are going to change our registrar and go deep Asia with our domains. Just to be possibly safest at that front. Some downtime will be involved between 6 to 72h, but it will be separately announced.

Phase 4: Public beta of the New Site. This may slide depending on our moods and perception of particular coding tasks and debugging, but we are almost there.

Okay, let's begin with the Phases.


To make you guys feel all cozy and secure after Whatcd closed, we are starting out of order from the Phase Three. This means new registrars for our domains, improved Cloudflare setup and brand new routing behind it. This is the first part of the so-called future setup. New routing servers are configured in an even more paranoid fashion and are meant already to work well with our own hardware (which will be intro as Phase Two).


The Site will be hence down for 1-5 days, starting on Wednesday, 30 November


It depends on how long will it take to complete the whole process. Don't be silly alarmed when the Site disappears for a moment. We will be officially down for maintenance.
