November torrents update

Hi all!

So we've just passed the end of the month and no torrents! What gives?!

We'd like to apologize for the delay, but considering the length of the downtime we feel this is one of those things where it is far more important to do it right, than to do it quick.

Going forward, the rough timeline is as follows:

• Early November: Loading the torrents into the database (at this point you will see your torrents go online again in your clients)
• Mid November: Behind the scenes stuff to get staff working on torrents, correcting metadata and so on
• Late November: Browsing (and downloading!) enabled for everybody else
• After this: Uploading enabled
• Later still: Integration with the various automation tools around

We plan on providing smaller updates throughout as we reach the various steps, so check the front page regularly to stay on top of what's happening!

Finally, we are now also starting to handle disabled users so if you have a friend or aquintance who has been disabled due to inactivity within the last year or so, you may let them know this and have them attempt to recover the password - depending on the user's situation they will either be handled automatically or referred to IRC for manual handling.

Hi all!

This is a very brief update on the status of things as November is puttin' on its gray hairs;

As of this moment everything that we could bring over from the old site, has been brought over. Stats, user records, forum posts, and much much more, including (as hopefully everybody have seen by now) the torrent records themselves, which now all are loaded in the DB.

If you have MTV torrents loaded in your clients that aren't green/seeding yet, verify you're using the right URL and troubleshoot your basic network settings (the Thread: November torrents update has some tips and pitfalls users have already encountered). If all else fails, send us a staff pm including announce URL and exact torrent name and we'll see what we can find out.

From now on, it's all into the unknown! Torrent grouping is structurally ready and the user interface for this is now being worked on. The next step is getting staff set up to be able to check the torrents, and then the actual checking, which also will take a little while. After that we'll be drawing nearer to the full public launch, but as you can see we are not quite yet there.

Thank you all for your continued patience and support, we're all chomping at the bits to get started and truly believe this will all be worth the wait for us all.

Progress Update

Greetings MTV users!

Well, it's been a long time since our last official announcement. It should come as a surprise to no one that multiple issues have affected our staff, jobs, and families over the past several months, but we assure you that we are still hard at work. We hope that everyone else out there is doing their best to stay safe and sane as well.

As you may have noticed, getting things up and running is taking somewhat longer than we initially expected. The GOOD NEWS is that we have a few bits we can release right now: You can now browse torrents! While nothing is in its final state just yet, we will be opening access to our torrents section. You will be able to browse, snatch, and seed old torrents, so this is your chance to have a look around, maybe re-seed your old libraray, and MOST IMPORTANTLY report any bugs on Forum: Bug Reports.

Now, let's talk about the coming weeks! Staff and Devs are still here, but limited in numbers and availability at the moment. In a month or so (don't quote this ) we expect to have all of the torrent metadata fixed (synopses, posters, banners etc.) and for uploads to be enabled roughly six weeks after that.

We look forward to having things running somewhat more smoothly in the near future, along with more regular updates and features. Most of all, we appreciate your patience and continued support.
