World's most popular torrent website goes down after the 2nd most popular website 1337x was hit by an attack.

The Pirate Bay has been down for a number of users this past day, with visitors to the torrent download site greeted with an alarming error message. The Pirate Bay has been hard to reach for the past day, with users of the torrent download site reporting issues accessing it.

When people have tried accessing The Pirate Bay recently they’ve been treated by a CloudFlare error message. The Error 520 message says the “web server is returning an unknown error”, according to TorrentFreak. The Pirate Bay was not the only torrent site that was facing issues. 1337x.to was also suffering downtime, while TorrentDownloads – one of the top ten torrent sites, is also experiencing difficulties.

The site’s operator, a week ago said the torrent search engine was under attack which may still be ongoing. The Pirate Bay team told TorrentFreak that the downtime was caused by a network issue and it should be cleared up soon.

The torrent site appears to be coming back online for some users while others are still reporting issues with it. The Pirate Bay outage left some torrent users fearing the site has suffered the same fate as Kickass Torrents, which was shut down earlier this year.

One user tweeted: “They shut down Pirate Bay”.

Others were just stunned that the major TV and movie torrent download portal was offline.

One Pirate Bay user posted on Twitter: “Pirate Bay is down. Idk what to do with my life anymore…”

While another added: “Pirate Bay is down?!”

And one tweeted: “Still pirate bay is DOWN”.

The Pirate Bay issues come after last week when the operators of 1337x said the torrent site was under attack, which still may be ongoing. According to the sources, the owner of one of the torrent sites, who did not want to be named, said that the Google Chrome ad blocker “will kill torrent sites”.
