Due to circumstances beyond my control, JPTV.club will be shutting down on March 15th.

what a sad news
although their 7 days seed requirement but they have a good tracker

I hope they just fix their issue, They really are a good tracker. Found some torrents I didn't found on other trackers.

Ouch that bad, there is not much good tracker wtih these style/genere. a lot unique stuff been there for sure.

One aspect of running this site, that was never brought up, are the costs.

If you think about it, you need to host multiple recorders in Japan. Computer, capture card, internet, power. WOWOW and other paid specialty channels subscriptions are not free either (for example, 2500 jpy/month for WOWOW, last I looked).

Then you need to have seedboxes (YoshiTsuneSama and YoriTomo) with large disks and good bandwidth hosted somewhere, where they would not be affected by the Japanese copyright laws. You need to host the tracker, which also needs bandwidth, Matrix server, wiki, DNS and domain name. This all adds up to 10s of man yen a month.

Someone had to administer all of this. Adapt and configure the software, so that integration between ECG and downloads would work. So that tracker would automatically populate descriptions for each torrent from ECG and from tmdb/imdb. When recorders broke. someone had to go there physically and fix them, replacing hardware and failed disks, spending their time. In addition, a team of volunteers had to deal with user complains, answer questions, and help with stuck downloads and H&Rs.

The amount of money and effort that were required to run jptv for the last 4 and a half years is staggering.

And Benkei has the courtesy of warning us a month in advance, that jptv is shutting down.

Benkei, you, sir, are a gentleman and a scholar, and my hat goes off to you for everything that you've done. And yes, there were many volunteers that were helping, but your vision made it possible. Thank you!

P.S. And to everyone who suggests that another host/owner for jptv can be found: Key issue here are the recorders. Yes, there are other people that record Japanese TV - there are some folks that upload streams recorded on TBS in Tokyo area. But, basically, recorders mean that this can be taken over only by someone residing in Japan.

Next, think of the costs. Who will want to spend this much money and get nothing in return? Anyone else but Benkei, would likely start charging for access/downloads and the site would be plastered with ads for sex toys.

100TB of movies
1,000TB! of TV (mostly TS, raw JAP) but most of that doesn't have subtitles

For the JP speaker outside Japan though... huge loss.

another forum post confirms the closure is not related to them running IPTV and getting threats on that. I think they only started IPTV recently to cover costs related to capping.

they were busy about shutting down the tracker but they didn't forget to send me a pre warning that one of my torrents seeded for 6Days:23H and Not 7 days lol
