Short version: You can no longer use Transmission 4.0.6 to download from or upload to Jpopsuki.

Dear Jpopsuki,

Version 4.0.6 of the somewhat popular torrent client Transmission that some of you use was formerly and routinely added to Jpopsuki's list of allowed clients (the allow list).

It came to light a while ago this particular version has a significant software bug. This bug has been reported to its developers on a GitHub issue and fixes have also been provided. The developers have acknowledged the existence of it and have already incorporated the fix into their software. Nonetheless, there may be some time before a new numbered version of Transmission e.g., 4.0.7 or higher, is shipped to the average user.

Some other private trackers removed Transmission 4.0.6 from their respective allow lists when knowledge of this bug was disseminated. Jpopsuki staff did not intend to disrupt users' experience and did not follow suit.

As of today, however, we have directly observed some negative effects of this bug on the tracker. These effects include ruining a user's snatch list by repeated reporting of the completion of the same torrent to the tracker. In one case, we have observed the same ~20 torrents innocuously downloaded by one user reported by their client in excess of 12,000 times altogether.

For this reason, we have followed the example of other trackers and removed Transmission 4.0.6 from the allow list as an irredeemably broken version of an otherwise well-behaved client. If you use Transmission and wish to continue with it the options for you are:

1. to downgrade to 4.0.5, if possible for you; or,
2. wait for a future 4.0.7+ version should downgrade prove impractical for you.

If you decide to wait you will need to use a different client in the meantime. This can be a separate installation of any of the allowed versions of Transmission, or an installation of another allowed client of your choice.
