A few days ago the streaming portal DreamFilm became the first service to shutdown after the local law enforcement authorities have confirmed some file-sharing related arrests. The police proudly announced the “significant seizures” and claimed that two well-known torrent websites have been shut down and five people have been arrested under allegations of copyright-related offenses.

Only two months ago the Swedish police carried out a raid that took the largest torrent tracker offline. However, the tracker rose from the ashes a few weeks ago with its databases largely intact. This must have been a blow to Swedish police, but action against torrent trackers continued. Don’t forget that the investigation into TPB and one of its former operators, Fredrik Neij, is still ongoing. In addition, the police have struck again in the notorious torrent site’s backyard, though details are not disclosed.

It became known that 5 people remain in police custody under suspicion of facilitating massive copyright violation. It is likely that the investigation will be started by the major Hollywood studios and Swedish anti-piracy group known as Rights Alliance.

The Swedish police targeted Tankafetast, the second largest torrent site in the country. It is known that the tracker has repeatedly been hit before, but now the situation seems quite serious. Torrent tracker PirateHub and streaming portal Tankefetast Play also closed down. The prosecutor confirmed that an investigation into PirateHub is ongoing, but it is unknown whether any hardware was seized in the latest operation. As for the shutdown of the websites, the prosecutor said that their operators had disabled them voluntarily “in order to prevent further crime”.

This is what happened a few days ago with the streaming portal DreamFilm.se: its operators made a deal with police to close down voluntarily after one of the site admins was arrested. However, the police didn’t actually received what it wanted, because some admins left the project to start a new venture with a similar name. In response, the prosecution in the case now asks for a permission from a district court for that domain name to be forfeited.

It recently also became known that a few of The Pirate Bay domain names were also under threat: the registry was targeted with unprecedented legal action to have the domains seized by the state.
