Important: ratio cap - 02/11/13

With the free leech period coming to an end, we will be aiming for some changes to HDBits. Now people have had ample opportunity to whore as much ratio as they could, we will be implemeting a minor change to the ratio system. Our goal is to promote longer term seeding over pump & dump ratio whoring with fast seedboxes. Therefore, the following change will come into effect on Saturday the 2nd of November, 23:59 CET (basically, now):

- During the first 72 hours after the upload of a torrent, the maximum upload that will be recorded is 5 times the torrent size. So a ratio of 5.0 if the entire torrent is downloaded.
- After the first 72 hours, all upload generated will count normally (xxx will remain neutral leech at all times)
- This is regardless of whether you download the entire torrent or a part thereof, or cross seed from another source. To repeat: the maximum amount recorded will be 5 times the torrent size, regardless of the amount you downloaded.
- The ratio cap is strictly per torrent.
- This change will affect servers and residential lines alike.
- The torrent uploader is exempted from the ratio cap.
- After 3 months, we will evaluate the effects of this measure.
