Changes and improvements to the Bonus Points system - 2024-05-18

Over the past few weeks we have made many changes to the Bonus Points system. They were thoroughly covered in this topic. Everything is also explained on the Bonus page.

Here's the most important changes:

Earning function is now linear and uncapped:
1 GiB = 0.1 BP/h in 0-100 GiB range
1 GiB = 0.05 BP/h in 100-1024 GiB range
1 GiB = 0.01 BP/h for 1024+ GiB
Big seeders earn more now without any limit while support is kept for small seeders too.

There are additional coefficients:
2x if you are the last seeder
1.5x if there are 2 or 3 seeders left seeding the torrent
1.25x for seeding discs, remuxes, captures, internal encodes and TV packs

Users with activated two-step now get 10 BP/h instead of 5.

Goal of these changes is to make users seed more. Seeding very little now can earn less BP than in the former system but we tried to balance it even for small seeders.


Spending costs were adjusted:

Users with a ratio > 2.0 can trade for upload if their buffer (upload - download) is smaller than 10 TiB. Also changed 50% upload reduction on FL torrents to affect only people with buffer bigger than 10 TiB (previously 5 TiB).

Lower costs of upload credit, combined with 2FA reward, to counteract less BP for people who seed very little (you're welcome to seed more!).
Higher costs of custom title and featuring a torrent.


3 new spending options were added:

- Free Leech download tokens - Download of one torrent for free within the next 7 days, cost is 5000 BP per token.
- Mystery Box for 50,000 BP - You can gain one of 10 special rewards with 10% chance.
- Sitewide Free Leech for 1 day - global pot that you can chip in, target is 50,000,000 BP and after it's reached, we'll announce the day when we'll have sitewide Free Leech. Max once in a quarter.
