HD-Forever News
Hello everyone,
This new year will be, like 2024, full of improvements.
We are actively working on improving the site's features and fixing bugs, while placing your security at the heart of our priorities.
Security is the subject of this announcement:
The HD-F tracker will switch to HTTPS, a more secure version of the HTTP protocol.
With HTTPS, your torrent client and the tracker establish a secure and encrypted connection before any data exchange.
Three major advantages:
1) Data security: Your "Passkey" will no longer circulate in clear text on the Internet.
2) Authenticity: You will be sure to connect to the real HDF tracker.
3) Performance: Exchanges between your torrent client and the HTTPS tracker will be faster than with HTTP.
Here's what's changing:
Currently, your announcement URL looks like this:
**********
Tomorrow, it will be:
**********
Your personal URL with your PASSKEY is easily retrieved HERE
All new torrents downloaded from 09/01/2025 at 14:00 UTC+1 will automatically contain the correct URL. So you won't have to do anything for them.
For torrents that you already share (in seed), you will have to update the tracker manually.
Most modern torrent clients allow you to do this change in batches, which greatly simplifies the operation.
For those using older clients, you will have to adjust the trackers one by one or re-download the .torrent files to replace them.
For P2P regulars, this will not be a new thing.
For new users, don't panic! We will be there to guide you if necessary.
You have 90 days to change the tracker URL in your torrent clients.
Important dates to remember:
Launch of the HTTPS tracker today!!! (You can start modifying your torrents now, the HTTPS tracker is already operational).
Definitive abandonment of the HTTP tracker on 04/15/2025 (You will have three months and some change to make the necessary changes).
We are aware that this change can be restrictive, but it is essential to strengthen your security and that of the tracker. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.
Your devoted and beloved Staff!
