New P2P Release Types

Previously, all P2P releases were categorized as P2P, whether it was a game release or a repack. This has created confusion and uncertainty over the years, so we have decided to improve our categorization accordingly. We have added three new release types to better categorize P2P releases.

The old release type is:

P2P: This encompassed all releases from all P2P groups, regardless of the exact type of release (repack or regular game release). This will no longer be used for new uploads, effective immediately.



The new release types are:

P2P Release: This release type refers to full game releases from Recognized P2P Groups, such as 3DM, ALI213, EMPRESS, VRP, etc. These releases are commonly for PC platforms, but some non-PC platforms also have active P2P release groups.
P2P Lossy Repack: This release type refers to highly compressed full game releases with some content either removed or re-encoded to save even more space. These releases are solely for PC platforms and currently KaOs and FitGirl are the only approved P2P repackers. Note: Lossy Repacks have essentially died out in recent years; the vast majority of new repacks are only Lossless now.
P2P Full Repack: Also known as a Lossless P2P Repack. This release type refers to highly compressed full game releases with nothing removed. These releases are solely for PC platforms and currently KaOs and FitGirl are the only approved P2P repackers.



Going forward, the old P2P release type will be made obsolete and will not be able to be used for new uploads. Any new uploads must use one of the new release types instead. Additionally, existing uploads can and should be reassigned to one of the new release types.
