E N D PART II
Dear DS Users

Many of you were saddened by the news that the site was being closed. We are also sorry that after 18 years it had to happen.

There are many reasons for such a decision, and finances are not the main, although important.

Recent years have caused dark clouds to gather over DS.

- The lack of a coder meant that practically nothing on the site could be modified or implemented. It got to the point that we couldn't fix a regular generator or bring someone new into the team.

- Shrinking distributor market - before covid there were about 15-20 premieres per month, or if you prefer about 5/week, now we have 1-2 per month.

We didn't want to change the site's profile and switch to streaming inserts. For years we have been based on 1:1 copies and we want such a site profile to remain in your memory.

- Fewer premieres mean less traffic on the site, fewer downloads, mass resignations from membership in the DS Club, which was the main source of the site's maintenance.

To maintain the site at a satisfactory level, we would have to increase the fees, and then more club members would probably leave.

- Users chose streaming, where they can choose items that have not reached our market on physical media.

This is absolutely understandable to us.

- Material fatigue, i.e. the crew. A dozen or so years devoted to the site are taking their toll.

We feel tired and burnt out, and as a result, we have no motivation to continue running DS.

The time has come to log out of the site and log in to life outside DS.

All this led to the fact that we finally had to ask ourselves whether it is worth continuing to run the site?
Vegetate, watch it waste away from month to month? Artificially prolong the agony?
Organize a Christmas collection to pay for the servers for the next year? And in 3 months send PMs when there is no time for premieres?
Wait until June and then keep the site with zero traffic for the summer?

It was a very difficult decision, but the only right one.

Users changed, came and went - there was a handful of the most loyal ones who, like the crew, became a part of this site, and DS became a part of their lives.
Behind us are 18 years devoted to DS, its birth, greatest successes, and finally its twilight, ahead of us only the funeral.
