Hi @Squidgy, could you please educate me on the risks of cross seeding? Or uploading from one tracker to another tracker?

I don't understand why one torrent should be exclusive to one tracker or membership group.

My intention is to share what I have anywhere I can. I am considering cross seeding existing torrents (i.e. both trackers have the torrent) in order to maintain torrent health and to share wherever people have access. I am also considering uploading what I get from one tracker to another tracker so other people can have access to the content from a tracker they do not have access too. The intention is sharing, inclusivity, not being exclusive.

    Thank you.

Majority of trackers don't care about you sharing the content around, it's the torrent file they care about. You can't share the torrent because it has your ID in it. Also if you add 2 trackers to the same torrent you will report false stats (because everything uploaded to tracker A will be reported to trackers B as well). If you add 2 public torrents of the same content to your client they will merge- this happens with some (mainly older) private torrents as well. Most of the time the private trackers have a flag that is set when making the torrent to set it as private and look for a tag which stops them from merging (example a redacted torrent will have RED and orpheus will have OPS so you can have 2 torrents of the same content), if they have the flags the torrents will just behave as expected. If they don't have the flags and you put both torrents in the same client you will get false results, so you put any of those torrents in a second torrent client (qbittorrent, rutorrent etc)

Thanks, I didn't know that. Fortunately I think all my private torrents have different hashes. Whew!

But I'll need to keep this in mind if/when I decide to automate my uploads to different trackers.
