If you upload torrents, you will have noticed a lot of high level trackers require two important pieces of information to accompany your torrent file. These are media info and screenshots. Their aim is to provide users with details of a video's encoding properties and quality.
Problem is, if you share torrents from one tracker to another on your seedbox, you may have come across the problem of having to download the files to your computer to gather mediainfo and screenshots. Well, in addition to being able to create .torrent files, rutorrent, with the help of two helpful plugins can produce mediainfo and screenshots, making your life a lot easier.
This particular tutorial will cover the WEBGUI method while another tutorial here will cover the Command Line method.
I’ll leave it up to you to decide which one suits you better.
1) Click on your particular torrent file and then click on the ‘Files’ tab of the details window.

2) Locate your video file, right click and select ‘Media Info’.

You can then copy paste your data to the tracker or paste in a text file and upload. (Note: This will only work if you are in the ‘Files’ tab. If you try this in the ‘File Manager’ tab, there is an option for ‘Media Info’ but you won’t be able to copy the data.)

3) Now that you have uploaded your MediaInfo data, it is time to tackle the screenshots. Firstly, click the settings button in ruttorent’s top menu bar.

4) Find the ‘Screenshots’ subsection which is right at the bottom of the list. Adjust the settings as follows:
Frames count 3This is the number of screenshots you want generated. I’ve set this to 3 as this is generally the bare minimum for trackers. Start frame offset, s 600This is when you want your first screenshot taken in seconds. I’ve set this to 600 meaning the first screenshot will be taken at 10mins. Time between frames, s 300This is the length of time you want between each screenshot. I’ve set this to 300 as I want 5 mins between screens. Slideshow interval, s 3This represents the time between screens if you use the slideshow feature in rutorrent. I left this at default as I won’t be using it. Image format PNGYou have a choice of either JPEG or PNG file formats. Choose PNG as this is lossless and won’t include any noise, grain or distortion of JPEG.

5) Click ‘OK’ and go back to the video file in your ‘Files’ tab. Right click on it and select ‘Screenshots’.

This will open up a new dialog box where you can scroll through your screens and choose to ‘Save’ one or ‘Save all’. (Note: Saving one a time will download each file as a PNG while saving all at once will download a .tar file which you will need to extract.)

Note:
1) The screenshot portion of this tutorial will not work for ISO/BDMV m2ts video formats.
And your done! All that’s left to do is upload your screenshots to a web host and paste the URLs into your desired tracker.
Hope this tutorial helped someone out there and as usual, if you find any errors or have any suggestions please let me know.![]()
