5 Chrome Keyboard Shortcuts
Keyboard shortcuts can speed up your browsing workflow like tremendously. Today we have some useful ones to share with you if you’re a Chrome user.
For Clearing Browsing History
To delete browser history, do you navigate to History and then click on the Clear browsing data… button there? It’s what I used to do.
As it turns out, there’s a shorter way to bring up the Clear browsing data dialog: Ctrl + Shift + Del. That would be Cmd + Shift + Del on a Mac.
For Quick Searches
To search using your default search engine without using a mouse click to activate the address bar, press Ctrl+K. This places a ? in the address bar and waits for you to type your search query.
For Accessing the Chrome Menu
The Chrome menu hides links to Settings, Extensions, Downloads, etc. To access it quickly, instead of clicking on the “hamburger” icon in the address bar, use this shortcut: Alt + E.
On a Mac, there’s no shortcut to the Chrome menu, but you can access Settings directly with Cmd + ,.
Open Task Manger
Task Manager gives detailed stats on Chrome’s memory usage and helps pinpoint resource hogs. It’s hidden under Settings > More Tools, but you can bring it up in seconds with Shift + Esc.
Access Extension Functions
Open up the Extensions page. There you’ll find a Keyboard shortcuts link at the bottom right. Click on it to bring up the dialog from where you can configure convenient keyboard shortcuts for active extensions.
