Russian President Vladimir Putin arrived to the palace of Turkish leader Recep Tayyip Erdogan in Ankara. A live broadcast of Putin's arrival was on Erdogan's Facebook page.

On the square near the palace an honor guard was lined up, the military band performed the national anthems of Russia and Turkey. After the meeting, Putin and Erdogan went inside the palace.

Putin will stay in Turkey until April 4. The leaders of the two countries will discuss the state and prospects for the development of trade and economic cooperation, as well as current joint strategic projects. It is planned that Putin will take part in laying the foundation of the Akkuyu nuclear power plant, which Rosatom will build in Turkey. Also, according to presidential aide Yury Ushakov, the parties "will certainly discuss the notorious tomatoes." In Turkey, Putin will also meet with Iranian President Hassan Rouhani.
