Shay Given, Clinton Morrison and David Jones lead tributes
SKY SPORTS NEWS reporter Fraser Robertson has tragically died at the age of 47.
Tributes have poured in for the much-loved Scottish journalist, who was often seen reporting live at Republic of Ireland games.
He leaves behind a wife and young daughter.
Speaking of the Sky presenter, former Ireland striker Clinton Morrison tweeted: "Rip Fraser Robertson such sad news.
"I will remember all the good chats and the laughs we had with Ireland for Sky Sports, you was a good man you will be sorely missed."
While Newcastle legend Shay Given commented: "Sorry to hear the news of the passing of @skysportsNews presenter Fraser Robertson.
"Did lots of interviews with him over the years (Great man) Way too young to pass, thoughts and prayers with his family and friends RIP."
BROKE KEANE STORY
Robertson memorably broke the news that Roy Keane had been sent home from the Republic of Ireland's training camp at the 2002 World Cup.
Current Ireland boss Mick McCarthy said: "It’s very sad. I really feel for his family.
"He was a great lad, I used to laugh with him because he used to always end his reports with that ‘Sky Sports News’ line. I always repeated it to him any time I saw him.
“Its just very, very sad and my thoughts and prayers go out to his family.”
His former Sky colleague and friend David Tanner said: "I’m heartbroken that Fraser Robertson, my oldest pal in journalism, has died.
"We met at Napier Uni as kids and grew up together at STV & Sky. He’s always been there, always wearing that big grin.
"A fine journalist with an eye for a story, never happier than when offering help to teammates, generously sharing his time, vast knowledge and ideas.
"Fraz loved sport & TV, working in both gave him structure in life, especially after his comeback from major illness. We’ve lost a lovely man. I can’t believe he’s gone and I’m so terribly sad for his family."
Sky Sports presenter Kelly Cates said: "Was a lovely man and a big part of those early SSN days."
While current Sky Sports Premier League presenter David Jones added: "Desperately sad, and he was a bloody good journalist David."
Former Scottish international tweeted his reply to Tanner, as he said: "Lovely man he was David. Thoughts with all."
