JEDWARD have shared their heartbreak after their mum died following a long battle with cancer.

John and Edward Grimes took to Twitter this morning to share the sad news their mother Susanna has passed away.

Taking to Twitter, they wrote: "Rest In Peace Mammy, you live on through us.

"We will miss you and your smile.

"You shaped the character of who we are.

"Mammy lived with cancer for many years but was always full of life!

"You live on in our Memories and will always be alive in our Hearts."

Susanna worked as her sons' manager for many years and was instrumental in their success as reality TV stars after they shot to fame on The X Factor in 2009.

She started work as a teacher in secondary school in 1984 and taught for 26 years until she left to work for her sons.

Susanna started work Jedward's personal assistant before working as their tour manager and took over as their manager in 2013.

Jedward were described by Simon Cowell as "not very good and incredibly annoying" when they auditioned.

But thanks mainly to Irish guest judge Louis Walsh, the boys made it through to the final 12 contestants and the live shows.

They managed to come sixth and were immediately taken on by Walsh, before releasing their debut single, a mash-up of David Bowie and Freddie Mercury's Under pressure and Vanilla Ice's Ice Ice Baby.

Susanna was her twin boys' biggest fan and supported them through their meteoric rise to fame.

Fans rushed to Twitter to share messages of support for the grieving popstars.

"She was always so proud of you and will forever be proud of you and everything you achieved! And now she’ll live forever through your legacy and all of us," one fan commented.

"R.I.P Mummy Jedward," another added.

"She was such a lovely woman had the pleasure of seeing her at your concert she waved over at me thought she was so warm she be so proud of you," another wrote.

A very successful tour of Ireland followed plus an ITV2 documentary called Jedward: Let Loose.

To date the twins have released three albums (Planet Jedward, Victory and Young Love), the first two of which went double platinum in Ireland, plus nine singles.

They have also fronted TV shows Jedward's Big Adventure and OMG! Jedward's Dream Factory, while making cameos in Keith Lemon: The Film and Sharknado 3.
