MOSCOW, February 24 (Itar-Tass) - RIA Novosti. Two more fighters of the fifth generation of the Su-57 arrived at the Russian base in Khmeimim, now there are four planes of this model, Sputnik Arabic writes citing local media.

On Thursday, the media, based on data from social networks, reported the landing in Khomeimim two Su-57. There is no official confirmation of this information.

Vladimir Gutenev, head of the State Duma commission for the legal support of the development of organizations of the defense industry complex (OPK), commenting on the news, expressed confidence that the emergence of advanced Russian fighters in Syria would become a deterrent "for aircraft of contiguous states that periodically fly into" the territory of the Arab Republic.

Leading researcher at the Institute for Far Eastern Studies of the Russian Academy of Sciences Vasily Kashin in an interview with National Interest suggested that the main purpose of the Su-57 in Syria is to test radar equipment in conditions close to combat.

The Su-57 (formerly known as PAK FA) is the fifth-generation Russian fighter. First time in the air in 2010. As previously reported the head of the United Aircraft Corporation Yuri Slyusar, the first batch of 12 cars should be delivered to the Russian Air Force in 2019.
