MOSCOW, Feb. 20 - RIA Novosti. Roskomnadzor in 2017, based on the requirements of the Prosecutor General's Office, restricted access to 13.5 thousand websites with calls for extremism, riots and unauthorized rallies, said the head of Roskomnadzor Alexander Zharov.

He said that in 2017, the Office of the Prosecutor General's Office received requests to restrict access to illegal information posted on approximately 1 thousand of Internet resources.

In addition, based on these requirements of the Prosecutor General's Office, Roskomnadzor identified over 86,000 web mirrors of extremist resources. Among them there are 45,000 websites that propagandize the activities of the terrorist organization "Islamic State" banned in Russia (IGIL *).

According to Zharov, most of the extremist information was deleted by site administrators or hosting providers prior to the blocking.

"As a result, telecom operators from almost 90,000 resources restricted access to only 13.5 thousand sites or pages of websites," Zharov said.
