Servers would become bottlenecked rather quickly if ever internet connected person could transfer at 1Gbps i believe.

The server determines the uplink speed so not really an issue. Keep in mind that many servers today run on 20Gbps lines. Not to mention that you have distributed networks and content delivery providers.
