THE Egyptian hotel where a British couple mysteriously died has suddenly received a flurry of 5-star TripAdvisor reviews.

A number of positive posts about the Steigenberger Aqua Magic appeared this week from what appear to be new accounts, amid the fallout from UK guests revelations they had hellish holidays there.

John Cooper, 69, and his wife Susan, 64, from Burnley, Lancs, died after falling ill at the hotel last Tuesday.

And since news of the couple's sudden death, tourists have described being served raw chicken and suffering food poisoning at the hotel this summer.

The review section on TripAdvisor had dozens of complaints over the years from holidaymakers who said they fell ill there.

Several were from tourists who visited the hotel this summer with some reviewers saying they were part of large parties where virtually everyone was laid low.

But in recent days a string of good reviews have been published, several from people who do not reveal which part of the world they are from and have few previous postings to their name.

Margaret C, whose only other review was made on the same day she posted her views on the hotel, said: “There is a lot of bad press about the Steigenberger Aqua Magic at the moment but I feel I must defend this lovely hotel. Our experience was excellent! The food was beautifully presented.

“The catering staff were appropriately clothed and obviously well trained in hygiene requirements.

"Everything was spotlessly clean in the dining areas. The hot food was in lidded metal serving containers.

“It is a fact that heat, alcohol and over indulgence of different foods and cooking oils can contribute to sickness and diarrhoea.

“We would not hesitate to choose this hotel again if we returned to Hurghada.”

Ehab said: “I was there everything was great food accommodation pools and they really care. It was great experiment with stiegenberger hope to come back again.

"Special thank for the stuff here very helpful front office guys Mr. Ramez and Mr. Kareem Tamam.”

And Mark added: “Even though this was our 3rd consecutive year of staying at this hotel, our expectations were met again which is why we're glad we chose to go back there again .

“From the moment you walk into the lobby upon arrival you are made to feel like you're at "home".

“The small things are always important so the fact that all the staff are so welcoming and nearly all of them recognise you after a year only makes for a really relaxing stay.

“All the staff, from the bottom to the very top always greet you with a smile and a hello and nothing is too much trouble should a problem arise. Even down to the point where my son's bed was uncomfortable for him, this was sorted out within minutes of mentioning it.

"The hotel is kept meticulously clean and the food was always of good quality and choice.”

And Mohammed added: “Best experience and this is not my first or last time in this hotel highly recommended for friends or family or couples so you have all activities in your door step and the beach is amazing plus the service.”

Today we also reported how a Brit whose "fit and healthy" wife died on a Thomas Cook holiday in Egypt said her death has haunting similarities to a tragic couple who passed away last week.

Clive Eversfield was staying at a five-star resort with his wife Alison Sonnex, 54, when they noticed a "strong smell" in their room and fell violently ill.
