Lavrov called the speculation of reports of hundreds of dead Russians in Syria
The head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs called such reports "winding up fried news without presenting concrete facts"
MOSCOW, February 19. / TASS /. Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov described reports of hundreds of dead Russians in Syria as attempts to speculate on the war in that country.
"The fact that we read about hundreds or even thousands of Russian mercenaries killed is an attempt to speculate in a war that unfortunately continues in Syria," the minister told journalists on Monday in the margins of the conference of the Valdai international discussion club Russia in the Middle East: playing in all fields. "
"I think these attempts, at least, are not very correct," the Russian Foreign Minister stressed. "The fried news is winding up without presenting concrete facts." "The investigation continues, please be patient," Lavrov called on journalists.
In early February, the CBS television station issued a statement that Russian citizens were part of the Syrian pro-government forces, who allegedly attacked the headquarters of the "Forces of Democratic Syria" (SDS) on February 7 near the village of Hashsham in the Syrian province of Deir ez Zor support of Washington. A coalition led by the United States struck a blow at these pro-government forces.
As the Ministry of Defense of Russia said earlier, Syrian militiamen came to the province of Deir ez Zor on February 7 under fire from the coalition because of uncoordinated actions with the Russian military. As a result of the incident, 25 militiamen were wounded. There are no Russian servicemen in the area, the Defense Ministry specified.
