Sicko kerb crawler ‘tried to buy a baby by the hour’ in Leeds’
A PERVERT told a grandmother to “to give him an hour” with her four-month-old grandson in Britain’s first official red-light district, furious locals have claimed.
The man reportedly asked the 47-year-old grandmother how old her four-month-old grandson was before saying: “Give me an hour with it and I will bring it back.”
The baby’s other grandmother said they called police and said it was “disgusting” as locals have called for the scheme to get scrapped.
It is one of the multiple accounts of children being targeted by strangers in and around the “managed zone” in Holbeck, Leeds, where kerb crawlers can solicit prostitutes without being arrested.
The Save Our Eyes campaign group documents examples of children being targeted on their website in hopes to raise the alarm.
One shocking example is a 13-year-old girl being approached with her mum outside of the managed zone and was asked by a man: “Are you working?”
The man allegedly went on to say: “It doesn’t matter about her age. She looks like one (meaning a prostitute) she doesn’t look like a child. It’s acceptable in Holbeck to ask.”
In another detailed account a 12-year-old girl reported she witnessed a woman getting raped by two men outside the managed zone and near a children’s playground.
A 10-year-old girl was also reportedly asked how much she cost while with her grandmother and the pervert offered £10.
The group’s website also details how pupils take long detours to and from school out of fear of being approached.
Images on the website show discarded syringes and condoms.
The first-of-its-kind scheme in the UK was meant to improve the safety of sex workers, but after four years Save Our Eyes wants it scrapped.
