It is bad for them. That's life.

Always read rules of the tracker and carry out their instructions about ratio and seeding.

What if the rules of the tracker state one have to maintain a ratio of 1.0? Would that mean ratio above 1.0 would get me in trouble? Have you ever heard of something like that?

No. This means the minimum ratio you should maintain is 1.0.. anything higher is just a bonus and shows you seed

It means you need to be careful that your ratio doesn't drop below 1.0, not the other way around. If a tracker doesn't allow overseeding, then that would be specifically stated in the site's rules or FAQ. So, all you need to do is read the rules and FAQ carefully and you'll be just fine.

For example, never let your ratio drop below 0.4 at Torrentleech or 0.95 at IPT. Higher the better. I keep most of my ratios above 50.
