Division One

Yorkshire vs Kent

Harry Brook fell six short of a double hundred but his ton and lower-order half-centuries from Dom Bess (89) and Matthew Revis (50) took Yorkshire to 571 and a lead of 280 over Kent at Headingley on Day 3. The visitors then lost Zak Crawley and Daniel Bell-Drummond cheaply before Ben Compton and captain Jack Leaning put on an unbeaten 91-run stand to help Kent recover somewhat. They still trail Yorkshire by 162 and face a tough ask on the final day to avoid defeat.

Hampshire vs Lancashire

Nick Gubbins hit a fine 130 and was ably supported by contributions from Ben Brown (72) and Keith Barker (40) as Hampshire set Lancashire a challenging target of 351 for victory. The visitors' opening batters George Balderson and Luke Wells survived a tricky six-over period before stumps but with 342 to get on the final day, the odds are in Hampshire's favour to force a win.

Gloucestershire vs Surrey

Batting continued to be easy into the third day of play at Bristol as hosts Gloucestershire responded to Surrey's 603 by reaching 443 for 2. Their response was led by a monstrous 296-run opening stand between Chris Dent and Marcus Harris. While the latter fell for 124, Dent batted through the day to remain unbeaten on 207. He received able support from Miles Hammond, who made a breezy 75 and set himself up for a hundred of his own.

Somerset vs Warwickshire

After three defeats on the bounce, Somerset hit back with a win inside three days over Warwickshire at Taunton. The visitors, who were bowled out for 209 in the first innings, were made to follow on and fared no better at the second time of trying. Sam Hain and Matthew Lamb hit a pair of 40s but there were no other contributions of significance as Jack Brooks ran through with a four-wicket haul. Warwickshire fell 82 short of even making Somerset bat again.

Essex vs Northamptonshire

At Chelmsford, Essex were made to follow on by Northamptonshire after being bowled out for 193 in response to the visitors' 390 with Ben Sanderson claiming four wickets. Essex were spared the blushes by a counter-attacking 79* from No.9 Shane Snater, who helped reduced the deficit after the hosts were tottering at 83 for 8. Essex suffered more batting troubles in the second innings and slipped to 58 for 3 before Paul Walter and Matthew Critchley combined for an unbeaten 91-run stand before Stumps. Essex still trail by 48 runs and need a heroic performance on the final day to avoid defeat.

Division Two

Sussex vs Durham

Cheteshwar Pujara went on to better his overnight score on Day 3 and record a double hundred as Sussex piled up 538 in the first innings. Mohammad Rizwan, with whom Pujara shared a 154-run stand for the sixth wicket, ended up with 79 as Liam Trevaskis picked a five-wicket haul. In response, Durham were 169/0 at Stumps on Day 3, with Sean Dickson batting on 110* and Alex Lees on 50*.

Nottinghamshire vs Worcestershire

Ed Barnard's hundred and Worcestershire's 339 in their second essay wasn't enough as the 159 all out in the first innings came back to hurt them in what turned out to be a five-wicket loss. Nottinghamshire lost a wicket early in the chase but Ben Duckett's 78 and Joe Clarke 61* ensured that they got to the total without much flutter.

Middlesex vs Leicestershire

It was a comfortable 10-wicket win for Middlesex in the end, as openers Mark Stoneman and Sam Robson chased down the 52-run target without much fuss. Earlier in the day, Leicestershire were bowled out for 272 with Ben Mike remaining stranded on 99 not out, but a hefty first innings deficit of 221 meant that the batter's effort was in vain.

Derbyshire vs Glamorgan

Thanks to Marnus Labuschagne's 130, Glamorgan ended up taking a narrow 19-run lead even as Suranga Lakmal picked a five-wicket haul. Derbyshire, in response, were 170/2 at Stumps on Day 3, leading by 151 runs. After the openers provided a solid 60-run stand, Brooke Guest (40*) and Wayne Madsen (58*) have added an unbeaten 97-run stand which will be key going into the final day.
