While the announcement of the Alex Smith trade certainly roused football fans Tuesday, a second compelling saga quickly arose as the details of the deal were being reported.
A brief timeline of how some Redskins players reacted to the inital reports, and the subsequent details, throughout the night:
Josh Norman, Chris Thompson and Will Compton were among the first to respond after Terez Paylor of the Kansas City Star broke the news that Smith was being dealt to Washington . 👀

ESPN's Adam Schefter then reported that Washington would be sending Kansas City a third-round draft pick and an "unidentified player." That's when cornerback Kendall Fuller de
cided to chime in. Awkward... 😳🤔

STEELE: Washington gets QB it wanted, and it isn't Kirk Cousins
That response led many to believe Fuller knew he was the one getting traded, but he quickly backtracked. Nahh its not me.. I dont thinkk

Mason Foster wasn't a fan of what he thought was a joke, and D.J. Swearinger expressed his discontent. Oh this had to be a joke with K Fuller Right???

Fuller then thought it would be best to clear the air online and say his immediate future with the Redskins was secure, leading other players to wonder who the "real" player to be named was. Mannnnn

It eventually became clear that Fuller was the player Schefter was referencing in his tweet, which led to different reactions. Some players were annoyed. This Is Unbelievable!

Some players immediately contradicted themselves.

Whether the confusion among current players about the move is a good or bad sign is something for the fans to figure out, but if there's one thing Redskins fans can probably agree on, it's that at least Robert Griffin III was not in any way involved.
