New Zealand were left sweating on Kane Williamson's fitness after the skipper was ruled out of the fourth T20I against India with a shoulder injury. According to the update from New Zealand Cricket, the injury was sustained during the third game in Hamilton when he dived in the field.

Williamson had made a masterful 95 off just 48 balls in that encounter which went to the Super Over. He again delivered in the Super Over as well finding ways to counter Jasprit Bumrah only to see his side lose the contest eventually.

Early indications are that the injury isn't too serious, with the team management already hopeful of having their captain back for the final T20I on Sunday (February 2). Tim Southee, the stand-in-skipper for the fourth T20I, also revealed at the toss that Williamson could be back on the field in a couple of days.

While this series is already lost, New Zealand have a big summer coming up with three ODIs and two Tests to follow for which Williamson's availability will be vital. The ODI series begins on Wednesday (February 5) in Hamilton and the Tests commence on February 21.
