John Legere spooks Verizon and AT&T in new video
We've reported on T-Mobile CEO John Legere for a number of years, watching as he turned T-Mobile into the fastest growing and most innovative of all four major U.S. carriers. Obviously, he has managed to become hugely successful by not following those staid pearls of wisdom that they teach you at Harvard Business School. The executive is rarely seen in a tie and suit, he wears his hair rock-star length and he speaks his mind.
We think that nothing makes Legere happier than trolling the competition. Who could forget the infamous incident during CES 2013 in Las Vegas when he called AT&T's network "crap?" Since then, he has constantly produced videos that take the mickey out of Verizon, AT&T and (no longer for obvious reasons) Sprint. The annual Christmas videos are always hilarious, with last year's edition a satire of Dr. Suess' "How the Grinch Stole Christmas."
With Halloween coming next Thursday, Legere decided to put a "scare" into Verizon and AT&T with a new video. And you just know that T-Mobile's CEO is planning to tease the nation's top two carriers when he calls them "my dear friends." Sure enough, he follows that up by saying, "The carriers work so hard gouging their customers all year round, I thought it'd be fun to return the favor. And I think I know just the thing to scare the shit out of them." So the executive, wielding a huge carving knife and a chain saw, tears into a pumpkin. And when he is finished, the pumpkin has Legere's faced carved into it. "See you in your nightmares guys," he says. And the video ends with Legere dropping off his pumpkin at the front door of AT&T's corporate offices.
