Kernel source code released for the HTC U12+
The HTC U12+ seems to have suffered the fate of every HTC smartphone released since the HTC One (M8) was released in March 2014. The handset has been overshadowed by other flagship Android models from Samsung and even LG. The highest profile device that HTC gets credit for is the Google Pixel 2. Designing the Pixel 2 happened to take HTC back to its glory days as a company that designed and manufactured phones for others. Remember the Sony Ericsson Xperia X1, or the Nexus One? Even the very first Android powered handset in the U.S., the T-Mobile G1, was made by HTC.
Today, HTC released the kernel source code for the U12+. This will allow enterprising developers to create custom ROMs and recoveries for the manufacturer's latest flagship phone. On the HTCdev website, there are currently ten different kernel source options to choose from depending on the regional version of the phone that a particular developer is writing code for. The various markets include India, Russia, the EU, Taiwan, Vietnam, Hong Kong and more. All of the kernel source codes released for the HTC U12+ are based on Android 8.0.
HTC also has kernel source code based on Android 8.0 available for the HTC U Ultra, the HTC U11, HTC U11+, HTC 10 and the HTC U11 life. To obtain these source codes, simply click on the sourcelink below.
