Apple releases "Shot on iPhone XS" video showing Slo-mo,Time Lapse and 4K experiments
To show off the improved photography capabilities of the Apple iPhone XS (and iPhone XS Max), Apple has released a video titled "Shot on iPhone XS-Experiments in 4K, Slo-mo and Time Lapse." Using basic materials and the cameras on the iPhone XS, Apple came up with some cool effects that it hopes will sell you on one of its two 2018 OLED sporting smartphones.
The first experiment uses water, sound and light to demonstrate the Slo-mo feature on the phones. The iPhone XS offers support for Slo-mo in 1080p at 120fps or 240fps. Next, a mixture of soap, water and corn syrup is used to create a psychedelic looking image that is filmed in 4K at 60fps. Remember your lava lamps? Crank up the Sgt. Pepper album. Another 4K video (again, shot at 60fps) uses glass, ink, clay and light to take you on a sci-fi journey.
Another effect that Apple shows off in the video is the time-lapse feature. Using copper and silver nitrate, we see how the germicide creates growth on copper wires over time. And to display the ability of the iPhone XS cameras to record video under low-light conditions, Apple uses fire and steel wool to create a "hot" image.
After each experiment is shown, Apple takes us "backstage" to get a glimpse at how these fascinating images were created. You can find the "Shot on iPhone XS" video at the top of this article.
