Huawei has shown that it can make a foldable smartphone, and now it’s turning its attention to a slider. To be more specific, it’s working on a handset uses a sliding mechanism to reveal two front-facing cameras, with the main aim being to free up space on the front in order to achieve an all-screen appearance.

It doesn’t look like it’s going to be a flagship device, though. Information buried in a recent patent suggests it has mid-range internals, like a dual-camera on the rear, save for an in-screen fingerprint reader. But that makes sense — Huawei has a history of being the first to bundle high-end tech on budget devices.

There’s no word on when Huawei’s full-screen sliding smartphone will hit the market; however, a renowned tipster told us that they expect it to break cover before the year’s out. When pressed for more information, they hinted at a suspicion of it being part of the P Series — but best take that with a considerable pinch of salt.
