Cricket and TCL have just released yet another budget-friendly Android smartphone, the Alcatel Insight. With the addition of the Insight, Cricket now offers a total of five Alcatel smartphones, all priced below $100.

In fact, the most recent model, Alcatel Insight is also the most expensive. Customers can pick this one up, starting today, for just $80 outright. Buying the Alcatel Insight online will save you the activation fee, so might as well get it from the carrier website.

Now, the Insight is far from being impressive specs-wise. It does come with Android 9.0 Go Edition, which, hopefully, will turn into Android 10 Go Edition at some point. The phone sports a 5-inch display with 480 x 960 pixels resolution, which is protected by Dragontrail glass.

On the inside, Alcatel Insight packs a 1.5GHz quad-core MediaTek MT6739 processor, coupled with 1.5GB RAM and 16GB expandable storage (up to 32GB). There's also a 5-megapixel camera on the back, and a secondary 2-megapixel selfie snapper in the front.

The Insight is powered by a 2,200 mAh battery that promises to provide up to 12 hours of talk time (3G) or up to 330 hours of standby time. Even though this is an entry-level smartphone, users will benefit from nifty features like Google Lens, Wi-Fi Calling and Google Assistant integration, so at least they'll have that.
