Google to roll out Gmail confidential mode to everyone in June
Unveiled early this year, Gmail's confidential mode will finally make it to all users next month, Google announced today. After several months of beta testing, Gmail confidential mode will become generally available on June 25, 2019.
Although confidential mode will be set to default ON in Gmail, if your account is handled by an admin, he must decide whether or not you can use confidential mode. There's an option to enable or disable the confidential mode in the Apps / G Suite / Settings for Gmail / User settings.
Gmail's confidential mode should be exceptionally good for when you need to send messages that contain sensitive data. The new feature will allow users to set an expiration date for their message, but they can also revoke previously sent messages. Also, when the confidential mode is enabled the recipient can't forward the message to others, copy or download it.
According to Google, the confidential mode will be rolled out to all Gmail users on June 25, but it could take up to 3 days for everyone to see it.
