Galaxy Note 9 stable Android 9 update shows up ahead of schedule in some regions
Android 9, also known as Android Pie, has been out since August, but most phone manufacturers traditionally need at least a few months to prepare their versions of the operating system before they can pass it down to consumer devices. Samsung is one of the companies guilty of taking their sweet time with software updates and with its phones being the main players in the Android field, there are quite a few people impatiently waiting to try out the new features that come with Android Pie.
For some, the wait is over! Specifically, those “some” are owners of the Galaxy Note 9 and even more specifically, the ones that live in Germany. At least for now, that’s where the update has been spotted by SamMobile. While more eager users opted for access to the beta version of Android Pie, this update is bringing the stable version of the operating system to everyone, meaning all bugs and issues should be gone (that’s rarely the case, but one can always hope).
The update is carrying the lovely name N960FXXU2CRLT and along with Android 9, it brings the January security updates. Usually, when an update comes to your phone, you’ll get a notification about it, but if you think Samsung is hiding the Pie from you, you can go to Settings > Software update > Download updates manually and make sure you have the latest version available.
For Samsung users, the switch to Android 9 is a major change since with it comes the new One UI, bringing a visual overhaul and new features to your smartphone.
Initial estimates from Samsung were for the release to happen around January 15, so that still might be how long you’ll have to wait. However, since it’s still January 4, there’s a good chance the update will grace your device before that date.
