Hi guys ... Well I'm seeing a lot of torrents on CHDBits and HDroad which have 'DIY' written in them, with a lot of chinese text in red/blue writing, which is obviously meant to be read ... Unfortunately translation doesn't quite explain to me what exactly is it, so can someone here tell me what this means ?

Like for example on HDRoad, there are two categories for Bluray content: 'Blu-ray Disk in ISO form' and 'DIY Blu-ray Disk' ... whats the difference (I know what ISO is for though) .. ?

I'll try to explain what it means to me, so if anything is incorrect please don't flame me for it. In Japan DIY stands for 'Do It Yourself' or "Design It Yourself." For example, you could go to the furniture store and buy a standard dresser. But if I didn't like that dresser you could opt to do it yourself with the tools available, the type of wood, number of drawers, color of varnish, style of knobs, height, and width. In Chinese trackers there's usually groups called ISO, REMUX, & DIY. Don't confuse these groups with internal release groups like for example, CHD, they're encoders. Rips released in one of those three groups are ripped from blu-ray with H.264/AVC which means lossless audio and video.

ISO: You already know what this is. An Iso is a 1:1 image of source, an exact copy, ready to burn or mount.

REMUX: Is a lossless re-encode from source, still using H.264/AVC plus all those annoying warnings, load screens, your choice of audio and/or subtitles, previews and setup menus are stripped and repacked in a tidy mkv container.

DIY: Is an exact rip from bluray source while still keeping the integrity of the blu-ray file structure intact. With this, you can now 'do it yourself' and remux, repack, or encode to a smaller 1080p or 720p version using the x.264 encoder.
