That depends...laws are lighter in certain countries where these guys are hosting their servers, i guess. So it's fair enough to say that for now, they're safe.If a motion such as ACTA, SOPA or PIPA passes in one of those countries, they will be forced to close down their servers, but they might move to other servers.I mean, as long as TPB still stands...i could care less about infrigements.Just my two cents.

The owners of bitgamer and all the other torrent sites that were closed were pussies imho. As long as huge sites like tpb and kickass and others still stand what would be the reason of closing your small private site if not the one mentioned above?

The inability to pay the fines, i guess.TPB is making 25 million bucks per month from ads, while private smaller good sites like SCC or BTN are making close to a couple of thousand bucks, and that in a good month.

I doubt PirateBay pays any fines. Look at this and this. Quote: Seriously, NO legal content will be removed. Whatever it is. Do not even write to us about it.

But they are indeed supported by a political group (Pirate Party) who has some members in the Swedish and European Parliament. However KickAssTorrents has no political backup and it's the second largest torrent site.
