Watch Rolo Tomassi bring a brutal-but-beautiful ‘A Flood Of Light’
It was the band's biggest headline show to date
Cult alt-metallers Rolo Tomassi recently performed a stunning, sold out headliner at London’s Scala – one which cemented their spot as one of the most individual talents in the evermore diverse Brit-rock pack. Today, we’re exclusively sharing a clip of that very same show, with the Brighton band performing ‘A Flood Of Light’ to a rapturous crowd.
The track – taken from their brilliant latest LP ‘Time Will Die And Love Will Bury It’ and acting as the set closer of a two-part encore at Scala – is a masterclass in Rolo Tomassi’s fusion of beautiful ambience and crushing metallic passages, spanning over eight minutes. Watch the exclusive NME stream of their performance of ‘A Flood Of Light’ below.
Reviewing Rolo Tomassi’s recent Download Festival appearance, NME wrote: “Never staying in one position or place for longer than a couple of seconds, [vocalist Eva Spence] contorts her body and strikes poses as the set progresses, the precise movements and unyielding violence like watching an apex predator circle in for the kill.” It’s a vision that came to life on the Scala stage – one which presents Spence as one of the country’s finest frontpeople.
‘Time Will Die And Love Will Bury It’ is out now via Holy Roar Records. In a four-star NME review, we dubbed the record “easily their most expansive work yet – a continued exploration of the beauty in brutality.”
