The band performed it at Toronto’s Danforth Music Hall

Alvvays treated fans to a cover of Devo’s iconic hit ‘Freedom of Choice’ during a gig at Toronto’s Danforth Music Hall.

The band were performing on Friday night (December 7) as part of their five-night residency with Snail Mail at the Canadian music venue.

Towards the end of their set, the band dove into Devo’s ‘Freedom of Choice’ taken from the 1980 album of the same name. You can watch a fan-filmed clip of the performance below.

The Polaris Prize is awarded to the best full-length Canadian album and is judged solely on artistic merit rather than genre or record sales. Alvvays were nominated for their 2017 album ‘Antisocialites’ which featured in NME’s Best Albums of the Year list 2017.

The ceremony took place in September and the prize was awarded to Jeremy Dutcher for his album ‘Wolastoqiyik Lintuwakonawa’.

“Psiw-te npomawsuwinuwok, kiluwaw yut. All my people, this is for you,” Dutcher said as he accepted the award. Previous winners of the award include Arcade Fire, Feist, Kaytranada and Caribou. Arcade Fire won the award in 2011 for their acclaimed album, ‘The Suburbs.’
