There have been murmurs of a major new awards show dedicated exclusively to unsigned artists circulating around the industry grapevine for some weeks now, that has been gaining support from some of the industry's biggest names. The platform is The Unsigned Music Awards, which opens it's doors to applicants for the first time through the launch of their new website on June 12.

The Unsigned Music Awards will offer a platform designed to recognise and reward the wealth of unsigned talent with the same prestige as popular mainstream award shows, culminating in a televised awards show to be held in London on 17 February 2016.

The team are quick to highlight that this is not simply another unsigned competition as we know it; this is a dedicated Awards platform with sixteen overall winners seeking some of the most promising unsigned artists in the UK.

Already supported by the likes of Jack Daniel's, Marshall Amps, Ont' Sofa, [US royalty collection society] BMI, Arising Artist, The Featured Artists Coalition, The Music Managers Forum and numerous others, the Awards are also in late-stage talks with many of the industry's most recognisable brands and are set to impact the music industry in a big way.

The event will be broadcast on the largest student channel, SubTv, which has 1.8 million viewers, as well as a new Sky channel and are currently in talks with two of the largest online content streaming providers.

Simon O'Kelly, Founder of the Unsigned Music Awards explains:
'There are many talented unsigned artists, but no identifiable industry behind them. We want to present an honest opportunity for emerging artists to win a credible industry award for all their endeavours. The voting panel boasts sixty of the most reputable names in the industry including major label A&R Managers, Grammy Award-Winning Record Producers, BBC Introducing presenters, PR and marketing executives, top-level Artist Managers, Music Supervisors, Tour Managers and of course, a handful of influential music writers and we are looking forward bringing the brand to the public.'
